philanthropy
National Philanthropy
In 1999, the SYZters of Sigma Psi Zeta formally adopted our national philanthropy: to combat violence against womxn. This includes, but is not by any means limited to: rape, incest, domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, exploitation, human trafficking, abuse of migrant workers, intimidation at work, child abuse, harassment, and spousal abuse. Any kind of physical, emotional, or mental duress constitutes violence.
SYZ hopes to bring awareness of this issue to our universities and communities at large. For over 20 years, SYZ sisters have built a campaign to help those affect by this tragic violence, to educate the community about the nature of this problem, and to empower our members to make a lasting commitment to the issue of violence against womxn.
annual sexual assault awareness month conference
Each year since 2021, our charter has held a conference for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) . SAAM takes place annually during the month of April and seeks to raise awareness about sexual assault and educate on sexual assault prevention. As an organization dedicated to advocacy and activism, it is our goal to continue to increase awareness about sexual assault and empower change, particularly in our collegiate and local communities, by creating a space to facilitate that conversation.
Initiatives

The Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) is a national nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that encourages and promotes civic participation of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in the electoral and public policy processes at the national, state, and local levels. We encourage our SYZters and our communities to participate in the democratic process to exercise our rights as citizens, in hopes that our voices will be heard and impact change.
